This is just the start of what will probably be a very long post…
Clock resets to 00:00 zero
October 19, 2010The RID clock kept resetting to 0:00 when starting up. I bought a new battery. I kept it on charge every night. I have nothing else on during ignition, e.g. lights. And yet nearly always, the clock kept resetting to 0:00.
Turned out it was the starter motor.
Starter motor replacement
October 16, 2010I was having serious problems with my bike not starting this week. It would turn over but not start. The starter motor still operated but with 104,000 miles on the clock and suspicions it was an original part, I decided to switch it out and eliminate any question (I got a used one on eBay).
Battery terminal charger
January 24, 2009I gave in!
In this freezing weather, doing short commutes the battery needs charging up every three or four days. Unlocking the seats, removing them and reaching in to clip the charger to the battery terminals just seemed about three steps too many. I know… I know… pretty lazy. But why go through all that when the charger comes with a battery terminal cable and a quick connector?
Lighter plug arrived
January 15, 2009The lighter plug adapter arrive today. It’s a nice piece of kit.
Electrical testing tools
January 13, 2009Auxilliary power outlets
January 9, 2009When I had the side panels off a few weeks ago I thought I noticed the two auxilliary power outlets were disconnected. Literally, the red wires were shorn off. I should probably have investigated more carefully then, but electrics weren’t my focus then. The power outlet in the front where the radio compartment has no connection wires at all.
