For the last few months the popping on my RT got worse and worse. It got so bad it was scaring people at bus-stops!
To cut a long story short, the solution was a couple of twists of the throttle body cable tensioner (twisting upwards, tightening/shortening the cable) – see below.
It turns out the left side throttle cable was out of adjustment keeping the butterfly open.
I fixed it inadvertently while doing a throttle body sync with the Twin-Max.
There’s a lot of literature out there about popping being standard on the RT so I never looked into it.
After making this adjustment I have no popping whatsoever so I’m not sure about it being “standard”, though perhaps it is common…
