When I had the side panels off a few weeks ago I thought I noticed the two auxilliary power outlets were disconnected. Literally, the red wires were shorn off. I should probably have investigated more carefully then, but electrics weren’t my focus then. The power outlet in the front where the radio compartment has no connection wires at all.
I took out my multimeter a tested the outlet but got nothing (could have been “user error”, but the memory of the shorn wires leads me to conclude there’s nothing going on down there)
The reason this came up now is because I want to try and charging the battery through the outlet rather than removing the seat every time. Given all the talk about the CANbus I’m not even sure it’ll work. I have a CTEK 3600 (Motorworks #ACA66500).
I ordered the optional “comfort connect” CTEK battery charger adaptor plug (#ACA66661C) from Motorworks. It was only £8.61 so worth a try.
If it doesn’t work out I’ll use the eyelet connector which was included with the 3600 charger.
